PARENTS CAREERS CONFERENCE

Over 400 Year 12 parents/carers attended our recent annual Parents Careers Conference, where they were informed of all the key information that they would need to support their young people through the various progression options which lie ahead. As well as hearing from our own Careers and Progression Team, parents/carers were able to attend sessions hosted by Durham University, Newcastle University, Northumbria University, Newcastle College and GSK plc, as well as a careers fair with various providers and employers present.

Our annual Parents Careers Conference continues to be a positive and valuable event for those who attend, with the sessions aimed at topics which will be of particular interest to parents and carers such as Student Finance, Apprenticeships, Widening Participation and Student Life.

Feedback from our speakers was that parents/carers were engaging throughout the night, with great questions providing key insights into some of the options that Y12 students have when considering their future. Attendees were also able to have bespoke conversations with all of the providers in the careers fair, discussing specific details about the offers available for their young people as well as the questions that the students may not think to ask.

In the coming months, we have a range of different Careers and Progression support events including National Careers Week, progression focussed CORE sessions, the annual careers fair and the 2024 UCAS Exhibition! You can see the full range of our progression programme on our website which can be accessed here
