Positivity Through Activity Week
We were delighted to celebrate the success of our second ‘Positivity Through Activity Week’, which took place from the 6th-9th May. Organised by the dedicated Student Wellbeing Group, the week aimed to promote mental wellbeing, encourage a sense of community, and spread positivity across the site through a variety of uplifting and inclusive activities.
The week started with Mindful Spiritual Activities, hosted by our volunteer chaplain, Hannah Wilkinson, from St Nic’s in Durham and our student Christian Union. This offered a calm and reflective space for students to begin the week with intention and focus. On Wednesday, the field came alive with laughter and teamwork during our ‘Old School Sports Day Challenge’, bringing a nostalgic and active twist to lunchtime. Thursday saw creativity and community combined during Creative Bites, where students enjoyed free pizza and the chance to unwind through artistic expression.
To end the week on a high note, we welcomed some very special guests—alpacas! A huge thank you to Anvil Alpacas for bringing along Andreas, Pablo, Chico, and Zeno, who were champions in ensuring every student who wished to see them got the chance. Their calming presence and friendly personalities brought smiles to faces across the site and secured a perfect, memorable conclusion to a fantastic week of events.
A huge thank you goes out to our Student Wellbeing Group for organising and supporting this week of events, as well as to Mrs Watson and Miss Sirrell. Their hard work, enthusiasm, and thoughtfulness made a real difference, and their efforts were felt across the whole sixth form.
We are already excited for what next year will bring! If you wish to be a part of the Student Wellbeing Group, and have the opportunity to organise such occasions, then please speak with Miss Sirrell.
