Apprenticeship Networking Event

The spring term came to an end for the Progression team with our annual Apprenticeship Networking event. The session featured a range of local training providers who were on site to facilitate direct engagement between students and recruitment teams. This allowed our Year 12 and Year 13 students the opportunity to find out more about the range of tailored apprenticeship options available locally upon leaving Durham Sixth Form Centre.

Northumbria Police were also in attendance to discuss not only their degree apprenticeship scheme but more generally the different routes into policing after sixth form. This gave our students a unique opportunity to gain first-hand information about upcoming apprenticeship vacancies and the various vocational routes currently available to them.

Whether students arrived fully focused on securing an apprenticeship or were just starting to weigh up their options against a traditional university route, having the experts on site made the whole process feel much more achievable. The feedback from the session was incredibly positive with organisations commenting on the high quality of our students. Our students in turn appreciated being able to network directly with apprenticeship providers to find out more about the different apprenticeships available to them and how to tailor their applications in order to secure an interview if possible. In addition, our students have access to a full-time Apprenticeship Lead within the Progression team, with whom they can meet up regularly for ongoing advice and guidance with their applications.
