Headteacher's Update

Ellen Beveridge and Durham Sixth Form Centre Students

August 2016 - Congratulations to our students on yet another year of excellent results!

I am delighted to report that students at Durham Sixth Form Centre are celebrating success today following the publication of results, marking yet another year of excellent academic and personal achievements. This includes a 100% A-level pass rate, which is higher than previous national averages.  Vocational results are also well-above national figures with students gaining on average a Distinction Star grade.

Every year, I continue to be inspired by the hard work and dedication of our students. I am pleased that this hard work has been rewarded with such fantastic academic success, which has allowed students to take up their places at university, and I am very proud that so many of them have secured places at top universities.  These results demonstrate that the school is continuously providing high-quality education to students in the region and, more importantly, that student’s feel challenged and supported to achieve their very best.

Amongst the many students celebrating outstanding A-Level results today are Robyn Bell, who has achieved two A*s in Mathematics and Further Mathematics and two As in Chemistry and Physics; Reece Roberts, who has secured three A*s in Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Mathematics and an A in Physics; Benjamin Wreford, who has achieved two A*s in Geography and Business Studies, an A in Government & Politics and a B in Accounting; Catherine Dent, who has secured two A*s in English Literature and History and two As in Classical Civilisation and EPQ; and Connor Coleman, who has achieved an A* in Sociology and four As in Media Studies, English Language, Government & Politics and EPQ.

Furthermore, a large number of our students have secured fantastic vocational results including Josh Duncan, who has achieved four Distinction* grades in Extended Business and ICT; and Daniel Kelly, who has also achieved four Distinction* grades in Extended Sport and ICT. Alongside many other students at Durham Sixth Form Centre, these students have secured places at top universities or prestigious higher-level apprenticeship programmes.

Once again, well done and congratulations to all of our students for their hard work and effort.  We wish you every success for your future.
