Students will develop a wide range of practical IT skills, developing technical skills including UX/UI design and prototyping, application and software development, alongside problem solving through software solutions.

Teaching and Learning Methods

The computing course is structured as a combined exam and coursework assessment, designed to evaluate and enhance learners’ computational thinking skills. The coursework component challenges students to tackle a real-world computing problem, mirroring industry scenarios.

Learners are required to document their problem solving process, from analysis to the design and implementation of their solution. This documentation forms a part of their assessment, demonstrating their ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations.

Assessment

You must complete three mandatory units:

Fundamentals of Application Development (Exam): Covers software development stages, application design principles, software types, development models (e.g., Agile, Waterfall), HCI, and job roles in app development.

Developing Application Software(Exam): Focuses on technical aspects like data flow, security, APIs, and deployment.

Designing and Communicating UX/UI Solutions (Assignment): Teaches UX/UI design principles, prototyping, and how to communicate design solutions effectively.

Additionally, two optional units are available:

  • Game Development.
  • Website Development.
  • Immersive Technology Solution Development.
  • Software Development.
