Weightmans Careers Insight Event
Students attended an Early Careers insight event hosted by Weightmans, a leading law firm in Newcastle, to learn more about the firm’s apprenticeship opportunities.
Weightmans, ranked among the UK’s top 40 law firms and operating nine offices nationwide, is expanding its commitment to developing new legal talent through a structured apprenticeship programme offering two distinct entry routes into the profession.

The Solicitor Degree Apprenticeship provides a six-year pathway in which apprentices work at the firm while studying toward an LLB in Law and Legal Practice. Successful completion includes qualification as a solicitor. The Paralegal Apprenticeship, meanwhile, is a two-year programme that leads to a Level 3 apprenticeship and a Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education in law and legal practice.
Ahead of the competitive application window, Weightmans held an insight event designed to give prospective applicants a first-hand understanding of what the programmes involve. Attendees received guidance on the application process, heard from current apprentices, and had the opportunity to put their own questions to employees across the firm.
The event also offered valuable networking opportunities, allowing students to speak directly with legal professionals and gain a clearer view of potential career paths within the industry.
By the end of the session, students came away with good knowledge of the application process, and an insight in the legal journey ahead of them.
