Digital Careers Event
A group of students studying Computer Science, IT, Marketing and Creative Media Production, amongst other subjects, recently took part in the Aspiration Digital event held at Newcastle University Business School. The one day conference, designed for 16–18-year olds, brought together hundreds of students and educators to explore the wide range of roles within the digital industry and the diverse career paths available in the digital sector, including careers in marketing, design, technology, and more.

During the day, students attended inspiring talks, engaged in practical sessions, and connected with professionals from local businesses. The event aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the fast moving digital industry, helping young people understand the range of roles available and giving them insight into future career possibilities. The digital sector is a significant and high-growth area in the North East of England, identified as a key driver of the regional economy. The region is one of the fastest-growing tech hubs in the UK, with recent initiatives like the new AI Growth Zone solidifying its position.
Students from Durham Sixth Form Centre returned with new ideas about digital careers, having gained real world perspectives and valuable networking experience that will support their future progression – whether that’s into higher education or employment in the digital world.
