Business and Economics Workshops
Last month, our A Level business and economics students had the opportunity to attend two workshops delivered by both students and lecturers from local universities.
We welcomed Anna Ehimigbai and Leena Mahmud from Discover Economics, who delivered an engaging workshop focussed on inequality. Both presenters are currently first year undergraduate economics students at Newcastle University, offering our students valuable insights from those who have recently walked the same academic path.
The workshop provided students with a deeper understanding of economic inequality, examining its causes, consequences, and potential solutions. Students were able to engage with current economic theory whilst hearing first hand experiences about the transition from A Level to university level economics study.
A Level business students participated in a half day marketing workshop led by Simon Clayton, Associate Lecturer in Marketing and Leadership at Teesside University. The session featured a range of engaging activities designed to give students practical experience in marketing strategy and campaign development.
The workshop culminated in an exciting challenge where students designed and presented summer campaign proposals for BMW MINI. This real world application allowed students to demonstrate their creativity whilst working with a recognisable brand that resonates with young consumers.
Students rose to the challenge, producing innovative marketing concepts that showcased their understanding of target audiences, brand positioning, and campaign effectiveness. The presentations demonstrated strong creative and analytical thinking within our business cohort.
