Aviation Academy
Recently, a group of Year 12 and Year 13 students had the exciting opportunity to attend an educational visit to the Newcastle Aviation Academy, located at Newcastle Airport. The Aviation Academy is a specialised institution that offers a wide range of aviation-related courses, covering both aviation engineering and aviation operations. These courses range from Level 3 qualifications up to full degree level, providing a clear and structured pathway for students interested in pursuing a career in the aviation industry.

During the visit, students were given a guided tour of the impressive aircraft hangar, where they witnessed current students carrying out a full maintenance check on one of the training aircrafts. This experience provided a unique insight into the technical and practical skills required for a career in aviation engineering and showcased the high standards of education and training delivered at the academy.
Following the tour students were given the opportunity to use the Academy’s state-of-the-art flight simulators. This interactive element of the day proved to be a highlight for many and even involved some healthy competition for the highest percentage of good flying – well done Leo!
The trip proved both informative and inspiring, sparking genuine interest and enthusiasm among the students, who asked thoughtful and engaging questions throughout.
Many came away from the visit with a deeper understanding of the various career paths available within the aviation sector, as well as a renewed motivation to explore future study and employment opportunities in this exciting and ever-evolving industry.
