At Durham Sixth Form Centre, our Academic Mentoring provision offers tailored, one-to-one or small group support to help students reach their full academic potential. Whether a student is aiming to catch up, stay on track, or excel beyond expectations, our mentoring is designed to build confidence, improve performance, and develop independent learning skills.

We're always on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers to support our mentoring programme. Whether you're a university student, recent graduate, or seasoned professional, your experience can make a real difference to our sixth form students. We work with students aged 16–18 during this pivotal stage of their education, helping them grow into confident, independent learners ready for the next steps in their journey—be that university, an apprenticeship, or the world of work.

The Mentoring Team

Our diverse Academic Mentoring Team is made up of:

  • Former teachers and industry professionals
  • Recent university graduates bringing fresh academic experience
  • Volunteers passionate about supporting student success

This blend of seasoned expertise and current knowledge ensures our students receive relevant, practical, and inspiring support across all areas of study.
