Year 13 Results

Yet another extraordinary year of results for students both national and at Durham Sixth Form Centre. Two-thirds of all A-Level entries awarded at grades A*- B. Students have gained on average a Distinction/Distinction* in vocational courses. Well done!

One term on…

Welcome to Durham Sixth Form Centre.

What a year it has been, and for so many different reasons.  I am delighted to report that despite the interruption, interference and intrusion of Covid in all of our lives that we, as a school community, have still managed to grow, develop, learn and thrive throughout the autumn term.  We have all felt our low moments and cherished the joyous ones.

This wouldn’t be my usual end of term update without taking time to praise both our students and my colleagues for continuing to work incredibly hard in and out of lessons over the past term including the end of term mock examinations (Y13) and formal assessments (Y12).  Students have approached them with seriousness, maturity and aspiration.

I must also thank our students for their work with local Parish leaders on green initiatives; our newly formed Y12 Student Leadership Group for their interest, applications and interviews and our Progression team for supporting over 500 (to date) UCAS, Oxbridge, Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary applications.

Also, well done to our A level Accounting winners of the Henry Smith Award and good luck to our students who are preparing for Law, Science and Business competitions which conclude in the new term.

And a big thank you to staff, students and families for the time, effort, creativity and financial contributions in support of our local charity, Children’s North East and their Give Hope this Christmas appeal.  So far we have collectively raised £1,658 which will be much needed at this time of year.

I continue year on year to be inspired by the hard work, effort, enthusiasm and passion of the students, staff, partners and parents of our community at Durham Sixth Form Centre and am always proud, privileged and honoured to be part of it.  We are looking forward to 2021 and seeing our students flourish, grow and endeavour to succeed even further.

We wish you all a very happy Christmas and peaceful New Year.
