Durham Sixth Form Centre

Open Events

Every year, we offer a wide range of events to support you to make a smooth transition from secondary school to post-16 education. This includes our Open Evenings, which are held in October and April, and our Year 11 Taster Day in July. These events are intended to help welcome you to Durham Sixth Form Centre, as well as to support you in choosing the right progression routes and courses.

Our October Open Evening this academic year will take place on:
Thursday 24th October 2019 (5.00 - 8.00pm).

Our April Open Evening this academic year will take place on:
Thursday 2nd April 2019 (5.00 - 8.00pm).

Our Year 11 Taster Day this academic year will take place on:
Thursday 16th July 2019 (8.45am - 3.30pm).

At our Open Evenings, you will have the chance to meet and talk to our specialist subject staff in order to discuss course content, enrichment opportunities, assessment methods, teaching styles as well as different routes within subject areas. Our award-winning Careers Information, Advice and Guidance Team will be on-hand to discuss any questions that you may have about progression to Higher Education, apprenticeships and/or employment.

Information will be available about our financial assistance offers and our Student Support Team will be around to discuss any learning needs that you may have. In addition to our Open Evenings, we will also write to you to invite you to attend our Prospective Student Taster Day, which will give you the opportunity to meet other students, try a range of subject lessons and meet members of our staff team.
